The Invisible Architecture of Bird Songs
Each bird species has a unique “song blueprint” encoded in its brain. Some learn their songs from parents, while others are born with melodies hardwired. Researchers have discovered that certain birds even remix their songs depending on urban noise levels, showing incredible adaptability. Birdsong is now being used in acoustic ecology to monitor environmental health.
