Need Help Understanding BD FT (Board Foot) Calculator
Hey everyone,
I’ve recently started working on some woodworking projects, and I keep seeing the term BD FT calculator or board foot calculator. From what I understand, it’s used to measure lumber volume, but I’m still a bit confused.
I know the formula is something like:(Thickness in inches × Width in inches × Length in feet) ÷ 12
But I was wondering:
Is this formula universal for all types of lumber?
Do online BD FT calculators handle multiple boards at once?
Can they also calculate cost if you input price per board foot?
If anyone here has experience using these calculators (especially online or mobile ones), could you share your thoughts? Are they accurate enough for both DIY projects and professional construction work?
